How Many Points Is A Bullseye Worth In Darts?

The middle of a dartboard, the red bullseye, is worth 50 points in darts.

Really… There are 2 bullseyes.

There are 2 bullseyes in darts. The middle bullseye (red) is worth 50 points.

Inner Bullseye is worth 50 points

The outer bullseye (green) is worth 25 points.

Outer Bullseye is worth 50 points

Can you win darts on bullseye

You can win a conventional game of 301 or 501 darts by hitting the bullseye. It must be the inner bullseye! The outer bullseye is not a finish and counts 25 points to your score.

So imagine you are playing darts and need 50 points to finish. If you aim for the bullseye but hit the outer bullseye worth 25 points, you have now to hit 25 to win the game.

Remember, you need to hit a double to finish! So 25 can be completed by hitting single 9 and double 8.

What are the chances of getting a bullseye in darts?

I didn’t know this so looked it up and found the following was true: The chances of you throwing 100 darts before you hit an inner bullseye on a dartboard are around 36%.

This means that you will hit a bullseye before you have thrown 100 darts about 64% of the time.

So what does this tell us? To be honest I haven’t a clue lol. It doesn’t make sense to me either!

Is the bullseye the highest score on a dartboard?

While the bullseye is a high score there are 4 areas on the board that will score more points than 50!

These are in the treble sections and are:

  1. Treble 17, worth 5 1 points.
  2. Treble 18, worth 54 points.
  3. Treble 19, worth 57 points and
  4. Treble 20, worth 60 points.

Takeaways:

There are 2 bullseyes, the inner and outer bullseye. You can only finish a game of darts hitting the inner bullseye which is worth 50 points. The inner bullseye is not a “finish” and is worth 25 points.

The inner bullseye is not the highest score you can get on a dartboard. This honour goes to treble 20 which equals 60 points.
